Hospice care brings together family, friends, community, and health professionals to share in the care of others. The spirit of Genesis HospiceCare is best exemplified in the volunteer program. Trained volunteers give of their time and talent in order to support the patient and caregiver. Volunteers come from all aspects of the community and are the heart of the hospice program. Some of the services that volunteers offer are:
- Fellowship & Support
- Relief for the Caregiver
- Massage Therapy
- Beauty Care
- Transportation Assistance
The spirit of Genesis HospiceCare does not stop with the loss of the patient. Bereavement services are provided for family members and loved ones in an effort to address issues of grief and loss. Ongoing bereavement counseling is available from the social worker and volunteers. The Genesis HospiceCare chaplain continues to be available for spiritual and religious support. Someone will always be available through the transition time and through the following year.
In addition to the emotional and physical support that Genesis HospiceCare offers, there are also many other benefits hospice care provides for the terminally ill patient.
- Medication Assistance - Hospice provides prescription medications that are related to the terminal illness, such as those for pain control.
- Medical Equipment - Assistance with medical equipment in the home to provide support for the patient and caregiver.
- ResPite & Continuous Care - Short term relief assistance for the family when the care of the patient becomes too much. Continuous around the clock care can be avail, able for the patient when medically necessary.
